About the Notes

Most of the notes below are rather old and (mostly) handwritten, but the algebra of yesteryear was the same as the algebra of today, so they may still prove useful as a modest supplement to the textbook. The pdf file for each chapter of old notes is between 10 and 20 Mb in size, so a reasonably fast Internet connection will be necessary to download them. They are kind of an evolutionary dead end, and I don't foresee doing anything further with them anytime in the near future. Update: there are now some *new* notes on, specifically, the section about rational functions.
