Robert Moran joined The Philadelphia Inquirer in 1992 as a suburban correspondent and became a staff writer in 1994. He has covered state government in both Harrisburg and Trenton for the newspaper. In 2004, he was assigned to cover Iraq for two months for the Inquirer's parent chain, Knight Ridder. Two years ago, he began making videos for the newspaper's web site. He is currently a member of the Inquirer's morning online staff, but for most of the time since October, he has been liveblogging from the courtroom at the federal corruption trial of former State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1991 and grew up in Whittier, California.
