Journalism 280

Internship Information and Application

An internship is a way for students to get on-the-job experience while earning college credit. Here at Bucks our internship is worth 3 credits and can only be taken with permission from the Department. The procedure for securing and completing a CoOp/internship is as follows:

I. The student must have completed at least 24 credits and maintain a 2.5 average.

2. The student must contact and set up his/her own internship location.

3. The student must find a faculty member who would be willing to serve as his/her faculty supervisor .

4. An Application for CoOp/Internship must be completed by the student and approved by the Department prior to the student registering for the internship.

5. Upon approval of the internship by the Department, a letter will be sent to the internship location containing important dates, student assignments, name of faculty supervisor and verification of credit. The internship site will also receive an Agreement of Internship form. This form must be completed and returned to the Language and Literature Department Chair before the student is given permission to register for the CoOp.

6. The student is required to put in at least 150 hours at the internship location.

7. The faculty supervisor may visit the internship location or call the on-the-job supervisor for feedback on the student's performance during the semester .

8. An Employer Evaluation will be completed by the intern supervisor and used as a way to measure the student's performance.

9. Prior to the conclusion of the internship/semester the student will be required to complete a Student Evaluation. This evaluation must be completed and returned to the faculty supervisor before a grade will be given.
