| Ensembles
In addition to the Applied Music and Music Studies offerings, the Music area offers music majors a number of musical ensembles that rehearse and perform on campus each semester. In addition to providing performance opportunities for the music majors at the college, several ensembles welcome both non-music majors enrolled at the college as well as experienced community members.
MUSA101 Concert Choir
A vocal ensemble that performs music from various historical periods. Interested students should have reasonable music reading skills and a means of learning their parts (piano or another instrument). Open to both music majors and non-music majors [non-credit particpants/community members welcome].
There are no extra rehearsals outside of class time. Attendance at concert performances is required

MUSA105 Swing Singers A jazz vocal ensemble featuring music of various styles from swing to rock. Interested students should have reasonable music reading skills and a means of learning their parts (piano or another instrument). The ensemble performs with amplification. Open to both music majors and non-music majors [non-credit particpants/community members welcome]. There are no extra rehearsals outside of class time. Attendance at concert performances is required

MUSA111 Small Ensembles
Small ensembles provide music majors a chance to study and perform music for a variety of instruments in a range of settings. This course provides opportunities for students to perform in jazz combos, classical guitar ensembles, percussion ensembles, wind and string trios and more.
> Literature of various periods is used along with instruction in ensemble performance. Time for public performance is scheduled.

A large jazz ensemble (big band) that performs music of varied styles from swing to rock. Interested students should have reasonable music reading skills. Open to both music majors and non-music majors [non-credit particpants/community members welcome].

MUSA121 Symphonic Band
A concert symphonic band that will perform professional level repertoire. Interested students should have reasonable music reading and performance skills. Open to both music majors and non-music majors [non-credit particpants/community members welcome].
Attendance at concert performances is required. Led by director Professor Jerry Nowak and Associate Conductor’s Steve and Colleen Sweetsir. The ensemble performs difficult and challenging college and professional level music. Members of the ensemble must have college level music reading and performance skills on their instrument. A balanced instrumentation is a major goal of the ensemble thereby limiting new positions in the ensemble to those instrumental sections that have openings, excluding BCCC students.
The college’s Cultural Affairs Committee has provided the ensemble with a guest soloist grant for the past six years offering students the opportunity to
perform with such world renowned soloists as Adam Unsworth, David Bilger, Tyrone Breuninger, Charles Russo, Al Regni, Joe Alessi and Terell Staford .

Prerequisite:Reasonable music reading skills and an accomplished level of performance on a wind or percussion instrument
